It uses a silver-based sensitising solution, coated onto a quality art paper. Exposure is by natural sunlight (you may need a UV light source for the winter months or for speedier exposure) and development is in water with fixation using a simple hypo solution. Argyrotype prints are warm toned giving good contrast and midtone definition. Being silver based they can then be toned and dyed as they would have been in the early days. You make all images are made by the contact system, where the image depends on a negative of the right size. In then kit you get 50ml. of sensitising solution enough for 60 8x10 prints, five sheets of high quality acid free 90lb H.P. paper, duplicating film, two glass coating rods, Hypo crystals, a plastic measuring cup, a syringe for applying small doses of the solution to the paper, gloves for personal protection & concise instructions.
