Printfilm from Bergger is an "analogue" alternative to having to use a digital negative, (like those from PermaJet or Pictorico) in an inkjet printer. Essentially, it is a black and white, continuous tone film that you use to make interpositives or internegatives in the darkroom.
A lot of people will not know what an internegative or interpositive is. It means taking a copy of an existing negative and then enlarging it onto another sheet of (bigger) negative film. Having done that you can then make a contact print at a later stage. So the film is an inter-negative while it creates a negative from an existing negative.
Alternatively, if you contact-print a negative onto another piece of film, you get an interpositive. It's an easy and straightforward way to make a positive transparency from a negative.
Imagine, taking the shot of your life with a small or medium format camera, then making a copy of the negative onto an 8x10 or 11x14 inch sheet, which you then use for alternative process prints like cyanotype or argyrotype!
This low speed (ISO 3) blue-sensitive film handles contrast changes well and is fully operational with a regular red safelight in the darkroom. It is coated on a 175- micron PET base for easy handling.
It has an extremely fine grain and very high resolution if you choose to use it as a normal negative film. It also has an anti-halation layer that clears during processing, and the film emerges perfectly clear when washed and dried.
