A teleconverter increases the focal length of any lens it is used with. This particular teleconverter has a magnification of 1.5x. For example, by placing this 1.5x teleconverter between a camera body and a 200mm lens, the effective focal length will become 300 mm. This particular converter has 4 multicoated elements. Full Auto focus operation is still possible with this teleconverter with lenses that have a maximum aperture of f4.5 or faster. Please be aware that when you use a teleconverter, you will lose 1 stop from the maximum aperture (i.e. an f2.8 lens will become an f4 lens with the teleconverter attached). However, it is an easy and inexpensive way to increase the focal length of your telephoto lens without the expense of purchasing and carrying another telephoto lens.
