You use a teleconverter, or lens extender, to double the focal length of a lens resulting in a telephoto effect. This inexpensive attachment, as a 2x converter on a 50mm lens will effectively make the lens into a 100mm telephoto. It fits between the lens and the camera body.

The disadvantage is: light passing through the lens is reduced by two f-stops. A converter is therefore only a budget way to achieve ultra-zoom status. It is always preferable, if finances allow, purchasing a new auxiliary zoom or telephoto lens.

We stock two brands of teleconverters: Jessops and Kenko. Made in Japan, the Kenko has the highest quality due to the 7-element lens option compared to the Jessops 4-element configuration.

* Extends the focal length of your existing telephoto lens by a factor of 2, bringing the subject closer, while maintaining autofocus.
* Fully multi-coated optics to reduce ghosting and flare.
* Suitable for Nikon film and digital SLR cameras that utilise the Nikon AF and AF-S (including DX) fitting. Will give its best performance when used with prime lenses.
* reduces maximum aperture by 2 stops
