Ilford s Multigrade IV Fb Fiber (their spelling, not ours!) compliments their RC product. This provides printers for the first time, with a variable-contrast, fibre-based paper that can deliver a complete range of contrasts in the highlights.
Available in the full Multigrade IV range of seven contrast grades, plus five half grades, with speeds matched grade to grade with Multigrade filters it is fully compatible with a wide range of films and developers. Tangibly, Multigrade IV Fb is a more substantial product: just what the discerning photographer and printer needs for the production of distinctive monochrome prints.
The paper s contrast automatically varies according to a given filtration, resulting in greatly extended low contrast in the highlights with no loss of maximum contrast or shadow depth in other areas of the print. Burning-in is easy and, for the first time, truly effective split-grade printing is possible. Highlight tonal rendition is the best in its class. The 255gsm weight gives it a real 'art paper' feel. It is available in a glossy or matt surface.
