Making colour prints from slides is both rewarding and a top-quality way to display your colour images.

The only way to achieve these wonderful prints is by using the silver dye-bleach method, known by its trade name of Ilfochrome Classic. With Ilfochrome, you get pure Azo dyes incorporated into the emulsion layer, which during processing works in a different way to normal colour couplers, thereby producing a superior result. Colour saturation is at the optimum setting and Ilfochrome is incredibly fade-resistant making it the natural choice when longevity of image is required. Some of our Ilfochrome prints have been on display for years in direct sunlight without fading. John Herlinger of Fotospeed reckons they even outlast monochrome prints - when you consider there is no gelatine that will decompose in the paper!

This easy process has a total development time, including washing, of only 13 minutes. This time reduces for the 3-bath process to 9 minutes when processing at 29 degrees Centigrade. The amateur range of Ilfochrome Classic papers features the medium contrast super glossy paper. The chemistry used with these papers is new this year but is fully compatible with past Cibachrome or Ilfochrome Classic Kits. We now sell 2 litre P30 kits of liquid Developer, Bleach and Fixer which can be mixed to make 1 or 2 litres of working solution.

Ilfochrome Classic material is available as CLM-1K which is a polyester (white) base Super glossy (high gloss).

The sharpness of the paper comes from the way the dyes act as a screen to help light from scattering during exposure.

N.B. A tip in using Ilfochrome though is that you will need a warm water wash, plus possible pre-soak, between developer and bleach.
