Warm Circular Polarizer

A side effect of both linear and circular polarizes is they cool down or make the over-all color balance of a scene slightly bluish. The addition of the 81A glass corrects the color temperature, bringing the scene back to the original 5500K for daylight film' color balance. The 81A glass creates a much more pleasing and warm color balance to the entire scene while the circular polarizer increases color contrast and reduces the effect of atmospheric haze.

Hoya's hybrid Warm Circular Polarizing filter combines a circular polarizer with an 81A warm up filter. This overcomes the problem of vignetting when a Skylight or warm up filter is stacked with a Polarizing filter - particularly when used on wide angle lenses. A side effect of polarizers is that they cool down a scene - or make the overall colour balance slightly bluish. This is a welcome effect for sea and beach shots - however, it is not quite so appropriate for wildlife or nature photography. This warm circular polarizer, which Hoya have developed in collaboration with renowned wildlife photographer Moose Peterson not only polarizes light but also boosts saturation in a warm and natural looking way, without affecting neutral tones.

The result is punchier colours and a more dramatic effect that overall will improve your picture. The filters have a filter factor between 2.3 and 2.8 (approx. +1.3 stops).
