The Dunco 67 Vario Split XL enlarger is a superb piece of German engineering that is unique among all the enlargers we sell. It is a microprocessor-controlled enlarger for variable contrast and conventional B/W paper with built in timer and measuring probe for density and contrast readings. It has automatic settings that are factory adjusted for all main variable contrast papers (Ilford, Kodak, Agfa, and Tetenal). It is also pre-programmed for all the modern black and white films currently on the market. However, on top of all that sophistication this medium format model guarantees to give easy-to-make, perfect pictures every time by use of the Splitgrade controller.
Rather than guess at the proper contrast and exposure time for uncertain negatives, the built-in probe sets the correct filtration for the required degree of contrast. It then automatically sets the correct exposure from the same readings. This enlarger is for the operator who wants perfect black and white prints with a minimal degree of knowledge. The speed and precise repeatability that it offers is well worth the investment.
Do not forget to purchase a transformer and lamp which are extra.
Dunco, the quality enlarger, easel and copystand manufacturer from Berlin has been making darkroom products for 50 years. As their importer for the UK, they agreed to make a special enlarger, which we specified just for the UK market.
Sadly, Dunco have ceased manufacture of all but its modular 6 x 7cm enlargers now. These can be adapted for all formats (35mmm, 4.5x6, 6x6, 6x7 and 42x65 Panorama work) with the appropriate negative carriers.
