Canon's DC100 DVD camcorder was the consensus favourite last year and in 2007, Canon is continuing the charge with the introduction of more entry-level DVD-based models. DVD camcorders can store 60 minutes of video on a standard DVD or tip to 108 minutes on a dual-layer disc. High optical zooms with preset zoom modes and optical images stabilization eliminate jerky, blurry sequences.
We love their DC230 DVD which and offers fantastic value for money, selling for under £300, and can capture still images to a miniSD card at 1,152 x 864 resolution. It is widescreen ready and is built around the DIGIC DV II, Canons most powerful video image processor originally designed for High Definition (HD) recording. It is also ultra user-friendly, with features such as Quick Start button and an intuitive menu system, easily navigated using a joystick controller. The DC230 camcorder also offers direct print and a USB2 connection.
