Our opinion:

This is essentially the same camcorder as the R206 and R26, except that it has a 32GB built-in hard drive. What we like about these cardcams - apart from High Definition recording - is the fact that they have two memory card slots, a (gesture responsive) touchscreen and smart auto.

Smart Auto selects the most suitable recording mode (i.e. beach, night or fireworks) for you automatically without you having to think about whether there may be a shooting mode more appropriate for your present location and lighting conditions, or even having to enter the menu. This results in better exposed/quality footage.

Having two memory cards on board with an automatic overflow (relay recording) is a big bonus too. Professional DSLRs often have this feature - and it is very handy. Generally speaking, the latest and largest capacity memory cards tend to be disproportionately expensive, which is why it makes more economic sense to buy i.e. two 32GB memory cards, rather than one 64GB memory card.

Intuitive gesture touchscreens are one of the really useful technological innovations of recent years, and the R28 has one of those too ...
