Our opinion:

Anyone who has ever used a monopod has found himself/herself suddenly in a situation where you really need to change to a portrait orientation quickly. So what do you do? Stab the person to the right of you? Chances are, you won't take the shot (and even if you do, it's probably unsharp due to camera shake).

This little clever Manfrotto gadget solves this problem very neatly. Smaller, lighter (270 g) and less fiddely than a tripod head, the monopod head quick release is easy to pack and well worth the investment.
Having a quick release plate is always worth it - not only to speed up the mounting and dismounting of the camera at the beginning and at the end of the day - but also when you want to handhold a particular image in the middle of a shoot. Highly recommended *****
