Dry mounting tissue is tacked to the reverse side of a print by use of a low temperature iron to melt the tissue. The image print is then adhered, in place on the board, by covering the print with a cotton cloth and re-applying the iron.
Dry mounting tissue is a traditional photographic product. It will stick all forms of silver halide paper for colour or black and white prints.
However ink-jet, dye-sublimation and laser printing papers (which are not accepted as traditional photographic prints) will melt below the bonding temperature of 185°F (85°C) and are logically not suited for use with this product.
