Did you know that every camera and lens combination has its own colour signature?

Achiving colour accuracy and consistency is no easy task then, particularly if you are shooting one event (i.e. a wedding or a holiday) with several different cameras - and want to collate a selection of images in one album.

So how do you compensate for the green bias in your Nikon DSLR against the vivid reds of your Canon compact camera? How do you assimilate the images into one colour consistent series that seamlessly integrates with each other from image to image, page to page?

Datacolor's Spyder Checker 24 is probably the simplest, fastest and cheapest solution to the problem. It allows you to create camera specific colour correction calibration profiles that provide colour accuracy and consistency across a shoot, even if different cameras are being used.

These calibration profiles can then be used in a wide range of software applications (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Hasselblad Phocus, and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve) to batch correct colour.

The process of calibration is no more complicated than shooting with a grey card: simply take a reference photo with the colour chart - and then continue to shoot normally. When it comes to processing your images, open the colour reference photo and the Spyderchecker software from within Photoshop or Lightroom, align the samples with the reference and proceed to naming and saving that particular calibration. Apply this preset across all the relevant images - and voila, you have colour accuracy and consistency.

The reverse side of the colour checker functions as a grey card, so that you can get exposure and white balance on track with the same tool.

SpyderCheckr 24 can be used for photo and video, consists of matt pigment patches and is compatible with Windows 7 32/64, Win 8 32/64 and Mac OS X 10.7 / 10.8 / 10.9 .
